Renewable Energy – Electric
ASC Energy is a strong proponent of the New York State Clean Energy Standard Program. CES mandates that by the year 2030, 50% of all electricity in New York State must be generated through energy sources like solar, wind or other renewable sources.
The Clean Energy Standard will be enforced by requiring utilities and other energy suppliers to obtain a targeted number of Renewable Energy Credits each year. These credits are referred to as Zero Emission Credit (ZEC) and Renewable Emission Credit (REC). ASC Energy is in support of this program and currently supplies 30% of our electric from these renewable sources and includes these fees in our prices.
